Parent Code of Ethics

Parent Code of Ethics

  1. Be a positive role model through your own actions to ensure your child has the best athletics experience possible.
  2. Be a “team” fan, not a “my kid” fan.
  3. Show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators, and support groups.
  4. Be respectful of all officials’ decisions.
  5. Please do not “coach” your child before or after a game or practice without the head coach’s permission since it may conflict with the coach’s plans and strategies.
  6. Praise all student-athletes in their attempts to improve themselves as students, as athletes, and as followers of Christ.
  7. Recognize and show appreciation for any outstanding plays/performance by either team.
  8. Help your child learn that success is oriented in the development of a skill and should make him/her feel a sense of accomplishment, regardless of the outcome of a game. Winning/losing is based on attitudes, not game scores.
  9. Respect your coach’s decisions and understand that he/she is a volunteer that ultimately answers to Tribe leadership.
  10. Talk with coaches regarding any concerns in an appropriate manner, including proper time and place. Before or immediately after a game/event is not the proper time. Be sure to follow the designated chain of command (coach, AD).
  11. Communicate. If your child will miss or be late to a practice or game, the athlete is expected to contact the coach to inform them of the situation immediately.
